Intel readies revision 3.0.3 for their handy SSD Toolbox utility and we're offering an insight and free downloads for it, as usual.

With SSDs becoming cheaper and more reliable with each passing month, it's little surprise that solid state drive manufacturers are trying to keep up with the evolution of their software, as well. Intel makes no exception and releases version 3.0.3 of the useful SSD Toolbox software.

Using the SSD Toolbox 3.0.3, users can easily find out detailed information related to their drives, such as model number, capacity or firmware version, driver health and estimated remaining life, or identify their storage solutions and access SMART functions. Note that the latter two features in the Intel SSD Toolbox 3.0.3 also with HHDs and non-Intel devices.

Revision 3.0.3 of the Intel SSD Toolbox brings support for Intel's SSD 330 series drives and definitions for SMART attributes B1h, B5h, B6h, and F9h. At the same time, this new version fixes a bug which caused the Identify Device value "214" to be misleadingly displayed as "209".

Aside from using the available diagnostics tools inside the Toolbox, this utility also helps SSD owners optimize their drives' performance, securely erase the data on a secondary Intel SSD and most important – install new firmware.

Which brings us to the SSDs supported by the Intel SSD Toolbox 3.0.3 and the new firmware available:

Intel Solid-State Drive 710 Series: Fw version 6PB10362 Intel Solid-State Drive 320 Series: Fw version 4PC10362 Intel Solid-State Drive 311 Series: Fw version 2CV102M5 Intel Solid-State Drive 310 Series: Fw version 2CV102M3 Intel X18-M / X25-M SATA SSDs (34nm): Fw version 2CV102M3 Intel X25-V SATA SSD: Fw version 2CV102M3

NOTE: users are strongly advised to backup all important data from their SSDs prior to updating the firmware.
