Nikon has just made available a new firmware package targeted at its UT-1 communication unit, namely version 2.1, which adds support for the producer’s D810 digital SLR camera and maintains compatibility with the D800, D800E, and D7100 devices.

In order to update the UT-1 to this version, you should know that this process can be performed using only the aforementioned cameras. Still, bear in mind that Nikon D800/D800E Camera Firmware 1.10 should be already installed if one of these two devices are used.

With this in mind, connect the communication unit to a camera device and verify its currently installed firmware version to make sure that it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If checked, get and run the appropriate downloadable package suitable for your computer OS (available for both Windows and Mac platforms), format an SD card using the camera, and copy the newly-created “UT1_21_.bin” file onto the root directory of the memory card.

Now, insert the SD card into the digital camera, connect the UT-1 via USB cable and turn it on, go to Menu → Network (UT-1) → Options → Firmware Version, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete and successful upgrade.

Upon completion, turn both devices off, remove the memory card, and check the firmware version once more to ensure the update has been installed properly.

That being said, download Nikon UT-1 Communication Unit Firmware 2.1, take into account all aforementioned aspects, update the device, and check with our website as often as possible to be up to speed with the latest releases.
