Today, Atomos has made available a new firmware package compatible with its Shogun recorder, namely version 6.21, which is especially targeted at AtomOS 6.2 users who might end up with corrupted frames due to out of spec memory chips .

Even though there is a small chance that you could experience this issue, the producer strongly recommends upgrading to firmware 6.21 in order to resolve this problem.

As for other changes, this release corrects direction of manual gamma settings, improves drive compatibility, and fixes the improper take number reset after formatting the disk. Also, bear in mind that DNxHR now requires AVID Media Composer 8.3.1 or later in order to work fine.

When it comes to new features, Atomos’ 6.21 update adds the ability to load 3D LUTs files on a SSD and access them through the new Display Options button located on the home screen, and allows your device to record and playback using Avid DNxHD (HD) and DNxHR (4K).

In addition to that, the Shogun recorder is now able to downscale 4K input to 1080p on the loop out port (setting accessible via the input menu page), its playback feature displays a preview of the selected clip, and benefits from more new features detailed in the Release Notes below.

Therefore, if you intend to apply this new version, download Atomos Shogun Recorder Firmware 6.21, carefully install it on your device, and enjoy the changes this release brings about.
