Cowon has recently released a new update for its AW1 auto capsule in the form of a new firmware version, namely 2.7.0. In its changelog, the manufacturer mentions that it will fix the errors with the frame dropping during mode change and the ones where the device would leave some files that had been chosen to be deleted.

With this update, the dashcam gets new guidance on formatting when a memory card error occurs, as well as in the order of the downloaded CCTV files.

To update, download the Cowon AW1 Dashcam Firmware 2.7.0 and extract the archive to an accessible location. From there, copy the “update.bin” file to the root folder of a microSD card and safely remove the device when done.

Next, go to the dashcam and insert the memory card into the unplgged camera. Start the ignition and then connect the power jack to the unit. The installation will start and carry on automatically and, while it does, do no turn off the ignition or disconnect the power line.

When the setup is complete, the AW1 reboots and Voice Guide says, “Starting driving recording.”
