Corsair has just rolled out a new update package targeted at its Vengeance K70 mechanical keyboard that includes firmware version 1.09, as well as the 1.3 utility release, which can be applied only on computers running a Windows operating system.

When it comes to changes, this fresh release includes support for a new High Power mode setting and adds a USB command to the factory test program in order to improve the “USB report rate” speed.

However, since the USB 2.0 maximum power (500mA) isn’t enough for the newly-added mode, it is recommended that the High Power mode be used only along with USB 3.0 ports that can deliver up to 900mA, which is more than sufficient.

In addition to that, to enable this new setting you must press the “Brightness” and “F12” keys while reconnecting the device, and, in order to disable it, simply press “ESC” key also while re-plugging the USB cable.

As for installing the update, just get and extract the downloadable archive, run the executable from within the newly-created folder, select the appropriate value for your keyboard (K70B_v1.09 for silver with blue backlight/K70R_v1.09 for black with red backlight) and click the “Ok” button.

Now, simply select the “Update Firmware” option, wait for the installation to finish, and then press the “Exit” button. Also, upon completion, make sure to perform a system reboot in order to make sure all changes take effect properly.

That being said, download Corsair Vengeance K70 Keyboard Firmware/Utility 1.09/1.3, upgrade your keyboard, and constantly check with our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
