We mentioned rumors about this update and, as promised, brought the actual firmware to you. As we mentioned in the earlier post, version 1.0.8.1.00 fixes control reliability of some of the EF lens products that can be mounted on the camera.

Other fixes include corrections to the Spanish and German language texts in the View Assistance and to the image color fringing when a subject is of high contrast. These last fixes can be found in the 1.0.7.1.00 version as well.

The update procedure is simple and quick. All you need is a formatted, initialized memory card, a computer and the camera.

Copy the VIA8.FIM file to the card, insert in the camera, go to the “Firmware” menu, hit “update” and wait. It will take about five minutes for the installation to complete and, when that happens, you camera will automatically restart.
