The package fixes an issue with the premature battery level warning while shooting a movie

Canon has released a new firmware version targeted at its PowerShot SX280 HS digital camera, namely the 1.0.2.0 one, which is compatible with all of Microsoft’s Windows OSes (except the Server Core platforms).

The package fixes an issue where the low battery level warning was prematurely displayed when recording a movie, and increases the duration of the shooting by 20% through a power consumption reduction of the optical zoom.

The increase in the recording time is based on a fully charged battery, and in certain conditions, the time may be shorter than highlighted above.

As for applying this version, first format an SD memory card using the camera’s menu, and copy the firmware file onto the root folder of the card.

Now, make sure you have a fully charged battery or a dedicated AC adapter to power the camera through the process, and afterwards, insert the SD card into the camera.

From the camera menu, go to Playback → Menu → Firm Update, and press the “Func/Set” button – at this point a dialog will appear, where you should confirm whether you want to update the version or not.

Bear in mind that powering the camera off, opening the battery or the memory card slot cover, and operating with any of the camera’ button, dials or switches is highly not recommended.

Moreover, know that after the 1.0.2.0 firmware version is applied, reverting to a previous one isn’t possible.

Now that you took into account all the important aspects, follow the link below, and download the latest firmware for your PowerShot SX280 HS digital camera.
