This update fixes the bug that caused shaky MXF footage

Canon has just rolled out firmware 1.0.1.0 targeted at its XF200 and XF205 professional camcorders, which resolves an issue encountered when exiting Power Save mode.

Specifically speaking, this update resolves the phenomenon in which when the device woke up from this mode, images and videos captured in MXF format onto a compatible CF card turned out shaky for no reason.

Therefore, if this bug has bothered you, check out your camcorder’s currently installed firmware and if it isn’t newer or matching this release, save and extract the downloadable archive on your computer’s desktop.

Now, back up your menu and custom picture settings as a data file (might be required after upgrading the device), and bear in mind that once firmware 1.0.1.0 is applied, you cannot reverse to an earlier version.

If all is ok, initialize a memory card using your camcorder, transfer the file “VKC1.FIM” on it (root folder), insert it into your device while turned off, and then power the XF imaging unit on.

At this point, you must go to Menu > Other Functions > Firmware, select “Ok” at the update confirmation screen, and wait approximately 10 minutes for the installation process to finish. Once completed, the camcorder will automatically reboot and display its current firmware version.

That being said, download Canon XF200 Firmware 1.0.1.0 or download Canon XF205 Firmware 1.0.1.0, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and check our website as often as possible in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
