The update adds support for RC-V100 remote controller expected to be released in June 2014

Today, Canon has announced the availability of a new firmware update developed for its C300 and C300 PL EOS cameras, namely version 1.1.2.1.00, which can be applied regardless of the operating system installed on your computer.

This fresh update adds support for the RC-V100 remote controller that should be released somewhere in June 2014 and resolves an issue where the F number of the EF Cinema lens wasn’t displayed correctly with the previous 1.1.1.1.00 release.

In addition to that, Canon’s latest firmware also adds various peripheral illumination data corrections for the “CN-E35mm T1.5 L F” EF Cinema lens and the “EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM” EF lens.

If you intend to apply this version, first initialize an SD card using the camera, insert a fully charged battery into the unit, and, while upgrading, make sure not to use the camera’s buttons, remove the battery, or pull out the SD card.

Now, get and extract the downloadable archive, copy the “VIAC.FIM” file onto the newly-initialized SD card, insert it into the camera, and power on the device; go to Menu → Other Functions → Firmware and press the “Set” button.

At this point, the camera searches the SD card for a new firmware and, when found, the device will display a confirmation screen asking for your permission to apply the new version – simply select “Ok” and wait for the EOS unit to install the update.

Upon completion, the device will automatically reboot, reset all settings, and then display the “Date/Time” screen. After setting the date and time, make sure to turn off the camera, remove the SD card, and check the currently installed firmware to ensure the process has been successful.

That being said, download Canon EOS C300 Camera Firmware 1.1.2.1.00, apply it to the device, and enjoy your newly-updated EOS unit.
