Buffalo has just provided its TeraStation 3000 series owners with a 1.20 firmware package (compatible with TS3200D, TS3400D, and TS3400R NAS models) which includes new fixes for a few common vulnerabilities and exposures.

Specifically speaking, after having resolved CVE-2014-3567 and CVE-2014-3568 OpenSSL programing vulnerabilities (a.k.a. POODLE SSL 3.0) with Buffalo TS3000 Firmware 1.16, the producer has also removed CVE-2015-0240 and CVE-2014-0178 Samba programming problems.

In addition to that, the new firmware has also added a feature that allows transferring settings from a TeraStations TS-HTGL/R5 unit to one of the aforementioned device models.

When it comes to downloadable files, Buffalo has made available two packages: one suitable for Mac OS X 10.4 and later platforms, and the other compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 OSes, as well as with Server 2003, 2008, and 2012 operating systems.

If you intend to apply the present release on your NAS, make sure to save and unzip the appropriate archive, close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade, and run the available setup file only on compatible system configurations.

Afterwards, just select the NAS you want to update, click “Upgrade,” and carefully follow all instructions for a complete installation. Once finished, a proper message will be displayed.

Therefore, download Buffalo TS3000 NAS Series Firmware 1.20, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and enjoy your newly improved security level. Also, constantly check our website to be aware when newer versions are available.
