The newly released firmware package improves various issues regarding replication

Buffalo has made available a new firmware update developed for its TeraStation 4000 and 5000 Network-Attached Storage series, namely version 2.72, compatible with the TS5200D, TS5400D, TS5600D, TS5800D, TS5400R, TS4200D, TS4400D, TS4800D, and TS4400R units.

This new release can be applied using either Mac OS X 10.4 platforms (or later) or one of Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit variants). In addition to that, the Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2012 OSes are also compatible with this update.

When it comes to changes, version 2.72 fixes an issue regarding replication encountered with firmware 2.60 and later, where the replication would use LAN port 1 if configured on a TeraStation NAS that is powered by a 2.50 firmware (or earlier).

In addition to that, Buffalo’s update resolves the bug that prevented some settings from being applied when LAN port settings of the replication task were changed, as well as the one where data was not resynced if the replication target or source device was changed in the task.

Last but not least, the problem that caused replication to use LAN port 1 instead of port 2 even though the task is configured into using the second port has also been resolved.

As for installing this release, you can view the detailed installation steps on the description page of each NAS or downloadable archive.

That being said, download Buffalo TeraStation 4000 NAS Firmware 2.72 or download Buffalo TeraStation 5000 NAS Firmware 2.72, depending on which device you own, apply the new software, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
