Today, Blackmagic Design has provided its users with a new camera firmware update utility, namely version 2.3, which only includes improvements for the producer’s Studio Camera 4K and URSA device models.

While the Studio Camera 4K only receives 12G-SDI performance improvements, URSA EF, PL, HDMI, and Broadcast units get a new installer layout that displays current software installed in camera, as well as an enhanced menu option for selecting recording format.

In addition to that, URSA models also benefit from support for windowed 1920 x 1080 (up to 150 FPS) and Apple ProRes 444 XQ recording (in HD and 4K), and is now compatible with a new V2 4K sensor for recording up to 120 FPS RAW at 4K.

Therefore, if you intend to make use of these changes, first of all you should take into account that Blackmagic has provided two downloadable files: one suitable for Mac OS X 10.9 and newer platform, and the other compatible with Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8 OSes (only 64-bit variants).

With this in mind, save and unzip the appropriate package for your system configuration, and run “Uninstall Camera Utility” prior to applying the present version. Afterwards, locate and run the available setup file, and simply follow all instructions displayed on-screen.

That being said, download BlackMagic Camera Firmware Update Utility 2.3, install it, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about. Also, make sure to check with us as often as possible in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
