The update improves reliability when formatting in HFS+

Today, BlackMagic Design has rolled out its 1.9.10 camera firmware update utility, which improves once more in-camera format reliability for URSA, Production 4K, Cinema, and Pocket Cinema models, but this time the enhancement is targeted towards formatting HFS+ developed by Apple.

Besides the aforementioned improvement, URSA EF, PL, HDMI, and Broadcast camera models also get a fix regarding the error reading timecode input that was encountered while using the previous release.

As for the Studio Camera HD and 4K devices, just like with BlackMagic Camera Utility 1.9.9, these two models receive no changes whatsoever.

However, if you intend to make use of these newly-made improvements or simply want to have the latest BlackMagic camera firmware update utility installed on your system, you should save and extract the proper archive.

The producer has provided two downloadable files: one suitable for Mac OS X 10.9 and latest platforms, and the other compatible with the 64-bit variant of Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8 operating systems.

Moreover, BlackMagic recommends running “Uninstall Camera Utility” prior to opening the available setup for version 1.9.10. Also, don’t worry if Cinema Camera EF or MFT experiences slight LCD flickering after being updated – this behavior is normal.

That being said, download BlackMagic Camera Firmware Update Utility 1.9.10, carefully apply the latest version on your system, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
