After two beta releases, namely AsusWrt-Merlin Firmware 378.50 Beta 2 and AsusWrt-Merlin Firmware 378.50 Beta 1, the developer has just rolled out its stable 378.50.0 custom firmware targeted at several ASUS routers.

This fresh update merges with ASUS’s 378_4129 GPL code, fixes some issues regarding French quotes and VPN pages, resolves the syslogd that enforced -S switch for no reason, and adds a new warning to the DDNS page.

In addition to that, the AC68U CFE update can now be written to flash (permission problems have been resolved), the Static Key field is now displayed when using HMAC authentication, and MAC filtering list won’t get corrupted when modifying it.

Moreover, the 378.50.0 firmware reverts to vsftpd 2.x due to improper behavior of version 3.0.2 on MIPS architectures, and includes other changes that you can view using the “Release Notes” button below.

When it comes to installing this update, the process is similar to any other firmware upgrade: save and extract the downloadable file, log into your router’s administration page, and click on your device’s currently installed firmware version.

An important aspect that you should take into account is that, after applying this update, you will need to perform a factory reset and manually configure your router. Thus, make sure to back up all setting changes from the default values.

Moving forward with the installation, from the firmware update section, click “Browse,” navigate and select the newly-extracted .trx file, choose “Upload,” and wait for your router to do its job.

With this in mind, download AsusWrt-Merlin Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.50.0 for your specific device model, take into account all aforementioned aspects, update your router, and constantly check our website to be up to speed with the latest releases.
