Amazon has just made available new firmware packages developed for its Kindle Fire tablets, namely versions 8.4.6, 7.4.6, and 10.4.6 targeted at the Kindle Fire HD 8.9", HD 7", and 2nd Generation devices.

The newly released files include support for the Brazilian Portuguese language, and add new keyboard languages. Moreover, the devices are now able to highlight words or passages in books using additional colors, as well as share notes and highlights with other users from a Print Replica Textbook.

As for installing the new versions, turn on the device, connect it to the PC through a USB cable, and copy the downloadable bin file onto the root folder of the internal storage of the Kindle Fire tablet.

Now, from the home screen, swipe down, select “More,” and go to Device → About → Update Your Kindle; the device will reboot, starting the installation process. When it powers back up, the “Kindle is upgrading” message will be displayed on the screen.

After the update completes, the device will restart once more, and if the process is successful, your System Version should now be similar to the firmware that you have just installed.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Kindle Fire tablet, and update it to benefit from the new changes.
