Amazon has outed firmware version 5.3.8.1 developed for its Kindle Paperwhite device, which adds a few new features that make word searching more easy and accurate.

Specifically speaking, through this new update, when you search for words or phrases within a book, the terms will be highlighted in the results. Moreover, if you tap one of the results to go to its location in the book, it will be also highlighted on the page.

In addition to that, the device is now able to look up a word in other dictionaries than the default one (if available) in the same definition window, and if the word has multiple meanings (homonym), it can also navigate through each of the available definitions within the same window.

As for installing the firmware, copy the downloadable bin file onto the Kindle’s root folder, disconnect the device from the computer, and go to Home → Menu → Settings → Menu → Update Your Kindle.

There you must tap “Ok” to initiate the upgrade, and when completed, the device will automatically reboot, at which point you should check the currently installed version to ensure that the process was successful.

That being said, follow the link below, download the file, and update your Kindle Paperwhite’s firmware version.
