Amazon has rolled out new firmware packages targeted at its Kindle Fire HDX and HDX 8.9" tablets, namely version 13.3.2.6 and 14.3.2.6, respectively, which include general improvements as well as performance enhancements.

Prior to upgrading your tablet to one of these versions, go to Quick Settings > Settings > Device > System Updates, check the currently installed firmware, and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If all is ok, save the downloadable package on your desktop, connect the tablet to the computer using a USB cable, transfer the .bin file onto the root folder of your Kindle’s internal storage, and then remove the cable from your device.

Be aware that, if you drop the firmware file into any other folder, the installation process cannot be initiated. Therefore, pay special attention to this step and also monitor the transfer so that it finishes completely before disconnecting the Kindle.

Now, go to Quick Settings > Settings > Device > System Updates, and tap “Updated” to start the upgrade process. At this point, the tablet will restart and then show an “Installing system update” message, so make sure you don’t interrupt it in any way as this can cause serious device malfunctions.

With this in mind, download Amazon Kindle Fire HDX Firmware 13.3.2.6 or download Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" Firmware 14.3.2.6, carefully apply the firmware, and enjoy your newly improved Kindle tablet.
