ASUS has just rolled out firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4950 targeted at its RT-AC87R and RT-AC87U wireless routers, which intends to fix the unstable wireless connection issue with iPhone 6 devices, and also includes various other changes.

If applied, build 4950 resolves the denying intranet access problem in 5GHz guest networks, includes compatibility with ZTE MF193A USB LTE dongle products, and fixes the UI issue encountered when setting the router to Access Point from Media Bridge mode.

When it comes to installing the new firmware, simply save and unzip the appropriate package for your router model, log into its administration page (username and password should be requested), and click on the link highlighting the version currently powering ASUS’ wireless unit.

Afterwards, click “Browse,” navigate and select the newly-extracted .trx file, hit “Upload” and allow your RT-AC87 device to do its job.

Last but not least, an important aspect that you should take into account is that pressing and holding the reset button for at least 5 seconds after upgrading firmware is required in order to properly reset the router and avoid any compatibility issues.

With this in mind, download ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4950 for your appropriate router model, apply it to your device, and constantly check our website to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
