ASUS has just made available a new firmware package targeted at its RT-AC68U wireless unit, namely version 3.0.0.4.378.4585, which fixes the CVE-2013-1813 BusyBox vulnerability, upgrades OpenSSL library to 1.0.0q, and includes several other changes.

If applied, ASUS’ firmware updates QIS and AiCloud-related strings, resolves the DPI engine initiation issue, adds Movistar profile in IPTV setting page, and also fixes an XSS vulnerability on page “Main_Analysis_Content.asp.”

When it comes to AiProtection, this feature gets its web history strings modified, memory usage optimized, and signature updated to version 1.030.

In addition to that, the router reboot issue spotted when AiProtection was disabled, as well as the kernel panic encountered while WAN was reconnecting, has also been resolved by firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4585.

Thus, if you intend to apply it on your wireless unit, save and extract the downloadable archive, establish a wired connection between router and computer, and log into ASUS’ web user interface (admin and password should be requested).

Now, go to Firmware Upgrade section, hit “Choose File” button, navigate and select the .trx file from within the newly-created folder, and click “Upload.” At this point your router will receive the new firmware and automatically initiate the upgrade afterwards.

Therefore, download ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4585, follow all aforementioned steps to properly apply it on your router, and constantly check our website to be the first to know when a newer version is available.
