ASUS has just rolled out a new firmware package developed for its RT-AC68 (P/R/W/U) and RT-AC87 (U/R) router models, namely build 378.4376, which fixes the CVE-2013-1813 vulnerability, upgrades OpenSSL library to 1.0.0q, and includes several other changes.

This new update removes an XSS security risk found on the Main_Analysis_Content.asp page, changes web history strings, improves memory usage, and fixes kernel panic when reconnecting WAN, as well as the routers’ reboot issue when disabling AiProtection.

In addition to that, firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4376 also adds a Movistar profile in IPTV setting page, and updates AiProtection signature, bringing it to version 1.030.

Besides the aforementioned changes, ASUS’s RT-AC87R and RT-AC87U wireless units also receive fixes for Internet Explorer 9 compatibility issues, NAT loopback problems, as well as for bugs related to the network map UI.

Moreover, for the same devices, this update resolves their abnormal SSH system log and improves the UDP performance.

As for applying version 378.4376, simply save and unzip the appropriate package for your specific router model, log into its administration page, and click on the currently installed firmware. Also, make sure it isn’t newer or matching the present release.

Afterwards, establish a wired connection between your router and the computer, click on the “Browse” button, navigate and select the newly-extracted file, and wait for your device to do its job.

That being said, download ASUS RT-AC68 Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4376 or download ASUS RT-AC87 Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4376, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
