ASUS has just made available beta firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.2187 developed for its DSL-AC68R and DSL-AC68U router models, which upgrades OpenSSL library to 1.0.0q and resolves the BusyBox CVE-2013-1813 security vulnerability.

In addition to that, this release applies new DSL firmware (1.0.2.2) and driver (5.5.1.127) versions, adds PPP Authentication options (AUTO, PAP, and CHAP), and fixes some issues regarding the PPPoA WAN connection type.

Users who apply this update will also notice that several problems are resolved, such as those spotted when syncing certain DSLAM, selecting Wireless Auto channel, or transmitting Diagnostic debug log in certain situations.

Moreover, these DSL devices receive support for Non-standard G.vector and Rx AGC GAIN Adjustment (ADSL) options available in Advanced Settings > Administration > DSL Settings, and get various UI issues fixed.

Last but not least, ASUS’ 3.0.0.4.376.2187 beta firmware also removes a bug that caused establishing Internet connection to fail when Download Master was installed and the router rebooted.

Before considering an upgrade, don’t forget that the present version is still a beta release and might not be as stable as expected.

However, if you want to stay “updated one minute ago,” save and extract the downloadable archive, log into your router’s administration page via an Ethernet cable, and initiate the process from the Menu’s Firmware Upgrade section.

With this in mind, download ASUS DSL-AC68 Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.2187 Beta, carefully apply it on your wireless router, and constantly check our website to be aware when a newer and hopefully stabler version is available for your product.
