Motherboards based on the X99 chipset seem to be debuting in a stream as if they're going out of style. ASRock itself released three of them in a single week, or at least announced their impending arrival. Now, that number has risen to four.

Behold the X99 Extreme6 mainboard, which backs up the LGA 2011-3 socket with eight memory slots, meaning that you will be able to install up to 128 GB of DDR4 RAM.

The necessary 16 GB modules won't exist until 2015, but it's nice to know that the support is already there.

In addition to eight memory slots, the motherboard has 10 SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, an Ultra M.2 connector (PCI Express x4, for 1.8 GB/s SSDs), three PCI Express x16 slots for graphics cards, and 7.1 channel Purity Sound.

Other specs include two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 connectors, six USB 3.0 ports, a seventh USB 3.0 on the PCB next to the DDR4 slots, and a debut LED.

Basically, the ASRock X99 Extreme6 is a hardcore platform for gamers and overclockers who like the black and blue color theme. Alas, the price of this Haswell-E ready mainboard is unknown, so we have to wait until September 1 or 2 for that last detail.
