14 DAY TRIAL // Today, ASRock has provided new BIOS versions developed for several of its motherboards, which include an updated EZ-OC table, and also improves overall CPU compatibility.
When it comes to the targeted devices, the producer has made available BIOS 1.40 compatible with FM2A88X+ BTC, FM2A88X Pro3+, FM2A58+ BTC, and FM2A78 Pro3+ boards, and versions 1.20 and 2.50 suitable for its FM2A68M-HD+, and FM2A88M Extreme4+ units, respectively.
In addition to that, ASRock’s FM2A88M+ BTC and FM2A58M+ BTC models get a 1.50 BIOS, the FM2A88M-DG3+ and FM2A58M-VG3+ R2.0 products receive a 1.60 version, while FM2A55M-VG3+ and Fatal1ty FM2A88X+ Killer boards can be updated to BIOS 2.20.
Since I mentioned updating, if you intend to flash your device’s BIOS, bear in mind that this process should be performed only when the newer version fixes a specific issue that bothered you or implements a change that you can really make use of.
Moreover, since an installation failure can seriously damage your motherboard, this task must be completed under a steady power environment (using an UPS system should do the trick) and shouldn’t be interrupted in any way.
As for the downloadable files, ASrock has provided 3 downloadable packages for each board and BIOS version that describe different flashing methods.
In order to be clear, to use the DOS archive, simply save and extract it onto a USB stick, connect the drive to your computer, and run the appropriate file from a DOS command screen. Similar steps apply to the Instant Flash file as well, only its content must be executed from BIOS’ flash utility.
Last but not least, in order to flash your BIOS using the Windows-related archive (must be extracted as well), close all programs that might interfere with this process, and run the available setup file.
