The latest firmware version 4.1.2 that ARCHOS has released is targeted to the 101 XS Tablet, which benefits from a pure Android 4.0 ICS operating system. This package has the CEC, that was detected as DPAD, tweaked so that it will avoid interference with games like Max Payne.

Moreover, the release adds back the Archos Multimedia Server and updates ARCHOS’ Video and Music features, File Manager, as well as GamePad Mapping Tool, so it can keep up with Google Play versions. Also, it makes Google Backup Manager work.

So, to update the firmware version for the 10.1-inch tablet, simply connect the device to your computer through the micro-USB that the device benefits from, and copy the downloadable file into the root folder of the tablet’s 16GB flash memory.

Afterwards, disconnect the device, at which point the tablet will automatically recognize the update file and it will pop up an on-screen menu that starts the upgrade process.

All you need now is the downloadable “.AOS” file, that you can download by following the link below.
