AMD has made available its latest Catalyst graphics package, namely version 14.6 RC 2, which is compatible with both desktop and notebook configurations running under Microsoft’s Windows 7 or 8.1 operating systems – Windows 8 support was dropped since AMD Catalyst 14.6 Beta 1.

This new release candidate improves ingame performance for Grid Auto Sport, Watch Dogs, and Battlefield Hardline Beta titles played on CrossFire configurations and enhances smoothness for Wildstar.

In addition to that, 3DMark Sky Diver receives a 4% improvement (for AMD A4 6300 APU), as well as CrossFire support.

Moreover, the Radeon R9 290X graphics card is more powerful when rendering Plants vs. Zombies on 1920x1080 (up to 11%), 2560x1600 (up to 15%), and 3840x2160 (up to 92% scaling) resolutions.

As for the known issues, the producer highlights that playing Watch Dogs on an R9 280X CrossFire configuration can cause the system to run in CrossFire software compositing mode. Also, for the same situation, screen flickering will be encountered if Temporal SMAA option is enabled.

With this in mind, if you intend to apply this version, simply get and run the downloadable package, follow the on-screen instructions, and perform a system reboot after the new graphics driver has successfully installed.

That being said, download AMD Catalyst Graphics Driver 14.6 RC 2, apply the package, and enjoy your newly-improved graphics performance.
