After the big release of AMD Catalyst Omega Driver 14.12, today, the producer has made available a new Catalyst driver version, namely 14.501.1003.1001, in order to fix a specific HDMI scaling issue that some users have been encountering.

Specifically speaking, when certain TV models were connected to a Radeon graphics card through HDMI, a small but visible black border could be seen around the image on the TV.

After applying this update, the image won’t be downscaled anymore, thus no border will be displayed on any TV and the HDMI port will work properly.

When it comes to compatibility, this release can only be installed on notebook and desktop systems supported by the new Catalyst Omega, and which are powered by one of Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8.1 operating systems (either bit variant).

In terms of installation steps, the process is very easy: just save and unzip the downloadable archive, run the extracted setup, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete and successful upgrade.

Moreover, upon completion, it would be a good idea to restart your computer in order ensure that the HDMI bug has been resolved properly. If the wizard doesn’t request it, make sure to perform this step manually.
