A new version of AMD's Catalyst driver for embedded GPUs and APUs is available for download. This update addresses the E6760, E6460, R-Series, G-Series, Radeon HD 6970M and HD5770 graphics adapters.

This release works only with Windows Vista, 7 or 8, on both 32- and 64-bit architectures so, if you are still using XP, then consider updating or sticking to version 9.00 of the driver.

Although it's been almost a month since the last update, version 12.101 comes with no release notes or any hint about what has been fixed or added.

The APU is an Advanced Processing Unit that unifies the CPU and GPU in one chip. However, the performance of these devices is impressive given that it supports DirectX 11, has 480 shader processors and can connect up to six displays with the help of AMD Eyefinity technology.
