Just after its big Catalyst 14.9.2 Beta Release, AMD has rolled out a new version of its Chipset driver, namely build 14.9, which can be applied on both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8.1 platforms.

If we were to talk about package content, this new update includes AMD’s chipset, AHCI, and USB 3.0 drivers also. RAID files for SB7xx, SB8xx, and SB9xx series, as well as for A- and E-Series APUs, are contained by the executables.

When it comes to the downloadable files, the producer has provided two packages, one for each supported bit architecture.

As for changes, AMD doesn’t highlight any improvements or fixes. Yet, applying this release might increase performance in titles such as Dead Island: Epidemic, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Sniper Elite III, and Murdered: Soul Suspect – however, I only assume this to be a potential improvement.

With this in mind, if you want to properly apply the present release, save and run the appropriate executable, and wait for all the files to be extracted. When the wizard appears, simply follow the on-screen instructions for a complete update.

In addition to that, if not requested by the installation, it would be best to manually perform a system reboot in order to make sure all changes take effect properly.

That being said, download AMD Chipset Driver 14.9, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and apply the package in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
