Western Digital announced recently that a new update is available for My Book Live Duo personal cloud storage device. Version 2.42.02 – 012 comes with an interesting changelog.

This update focuses on the Windows 8 related issues such as the inability of File History to back up to default shares and the compatibility with WD Rally driver.

Other fixes include the auto updates not working when the hour is set as 1AM through 9AM, internal server error pop-up appearing after changing the device name and slow media crawler performance on drives with large number of files.

WD left a note on this firmware, in which it mentions that after updating, the DLNA server will have to rebuild the database. It will do it all by itself and all you have to do is be patient for a few hours.

The waiting time will vary, though, depending on the quantity of media files stored on your device.

Below is the link to the firmware. Download, install and stay “updated one minute ago.”
